The International Manila Food and Wine Festival 2024, in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Restaurant Owners of the Philippines (Resto Ph), is making a definitive move to becoming a key player in Asia’s burgeoning gastronomy tourism scene. With an ambitious focus on drawing global attention and positioning the Philippines as a food destination, this year’s event will spotlight the country’s rich culture and heritage, and how the food scene is reflective of the diverse influences of its population.

MANILA GASTRONOMIYA

The event offers a comprehensive exploration of the Philippines’ dynamic food and beverage industry by helping create symbiotic relationships between restaurants and communities and encouraging them to actively engage in elevating Manila—and the country as a whole—into a culinary powerhouse. Beyond restaurants rustling up unique culinary repertoires from high-end dining to best-value bites, there is a concerted effort to put the country firmly on the global food map.

On September 18, 2024, Manila Gastronomiya will take place, where chefs, restaurateurs, business owners, food producers, and experts will discuss strategies for accelerating industry growth through gastronomy tourism and doubling the food and beverage industry by the year 2030. The full-day hospitality symposium will commence at 10:00 AM and end at 6:00 PM at the Grand Westside Hotel. Building on the festival’s success of previous years, Manila Gastronomiya promises to delve deeper into the vibrancy of Filipino cuisine and how we can extend the strong family bonds Filipinos are known for, to the communities through the shared experience of food.

For tickets to Manila Gastronomiya, contact Rache Diaz at +63 917 5318949. Regular tickets are priced at Php 8,888 and for Resto PH Members, Php 5,888.

CHEF DAVID THIEN x CHEF LISA REVILLA

On September 19, 2024, Chef Lisa Revilla and Chef David Thien will whip up a five-course Filipino-French gourmet dinner. Revilla was born and raised in the Philippines but headed to the Big Apple to sharpen her skills—and knives—as a chef in New York at various prestigious institutions. Thien, originally from the town of La Réole near Bordeaux, France, gained extensive culinary training in Michelin-starred restaurants. The two are married and are now based in Davao where they offer private dining at their home, 16 Ramona. Together, Revilla and Thien will provide a unique vantage point for participants to immerse in the intersection of culture and food in the diaspora.

As the saying goes, to truly know a city, you must eat its food. The Philippines, a treasure trove of cultural wonders, has the potential to leverage its rich culinary traditions to amplify tourism and spur local economic development. The International Manila Food and Wine Festival 2024 is a powerful step in that direction, highlighting the country’s gastronomic heritage while positioning it as a major culinary destination in Asia.

To reserve seats at the Filipino-French Gourmet Dinner, contact Pia dela Cruz at pia.dela-cruz@accor.com. Regular tickets are priced at Php 5,000 per seat. Accor Plus Members can reserve a seat for Php 4,500.
