Happy 4th of July Weekend in Manila!
Sue Bee Honey hosted a Taste of American County Fair event to celebrate the brand’s long history in the country and its refreshed packaging, just in time for the 4th of July celebrations. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with blogging friends and introduce the boys to this vibrant culture and celebration.
Looking forward to more celebrations like this every 4th of July: Here’s a photo essay:
AN AMERICAN COUNTY FAIR

Held at Ballroom 1 of Grand Hyatt Manila and hosted by Rovilson Fernandez, the Sue Bee event showcased an array of traditional American dishes, highlighting the versatility and rich flavors of Sue Bee Honey. Guests enjoyed unique culinary creations infused with the wholesome goodness of Sue Bee Honey. The festive atmosphere featured lively music, traditional county fair games, and captivating entertainment, creating an unforgettable experience reminiscent of a classic American hoe-down.

The boys loved the Catch Stick game, which tests hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, and concentration. The objective is to catch the sticks as they fall randomly. It was exciting because it’s challenging and not your usual county fair game.

Of course, the burger eating contests were fun, with a surprising winner who made it look easy to finish with finesse.

When you think of an American County Fair, smoked pork ribs and all-you-can-eat feasts come to mind.

My favorite was the make-your-own burger station, with options for a beef burger or a fried chicken patty. I loved mine with extra pickles, cheese, and secret sauce.

The boys loved the beef brisket, which was incredibly tender and served with a delicious sauce. Rice, please!

The pepperoni pizza was delicious with a drizzle of Sue Bee Honey. Maybe a chili version soon?

A true county fair celebration is not complete without enjoying it with family!

We also loved their iced tea, sweetened with honey for a healthier drink.

Final Thoughts

One of these days, we hope to bring our kids to the US to visit family and cousins and experience an authentic American county fair with smoked pork ribs, beef brisket, and games. We had a discussion about the 4th of July and some of the symbols of this county fair tradition, which they currently know only from social media. Congrats to Sue Bee Honey for your long history of success in the country and your beautiful new packaging!

P.S. Trivia: Did you know the word “honeymoon” originates from the 16th century, combining “honey” to symbolize the sweetness of early marriage and “moon” to denote a period of time. It reflects the idea that the first month of marriage is the sweetest, with the sweetness gradually waning like the phases of the moon. Traditionally, it marks a special, joyful period celebrated by a trip taken by the newlyweds and the custom of eating honey after marriage for fertility reasons.
